District Director: Myron Barnes

It is the mission of the Lake Agassiz District, Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Young people today face a crisis, because they are not provided the three families-parents, relatives and mentors, and community groups-necessary for total growth. Scouting helps youth face this crisis by helping them set goals, adult mentoring and peer mentoring, experience nature and the world around them, spiritual development, character development, and discipline. The discipline provided by the structure of Scouting helps young people build their own system of self-discipline. Scouting provides young people a way to build self-esteem and self reliance with male and female mentors in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Lake Agassiz District vision is to offer young people responsible fun and adventure through positive adult role models. Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership, plus serve our communities and families with our quality, values based program.
